The 福利姬 Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has elected its new executives on Friday, 14th聽November 2025, at the Florence Onny Auditorium, to steer the affairs of the Association for the next year.
A total of eight candidates filed to contest for the positions of President, Vice鈥疨resident, and Organizer. The Secretary, Treasury and Public Relations Officer positions remain vacant because no one contested. Voting was conducted electronically.
The presidential slot was keenly contested by four candidates. At the end of voting, 聽聽 Mr. Andrew Abbey garnered 82 votes representing 32.28%, while his three contenders, 聽Mr. Gabriel F.A. Amponsah, Mr. Samuel Dzandey and Mr. Confidence Akaponi, secured 81 votes (31.89%),聽 67 (26.38%) 聽and 24 (9.45%) respectively.
Giving his victory speech, the President-elect, Mr. Andrew Abbey, attributed the victory to God, advisers and supporters. He also acknowledged his opponents for their participation, which strengthened the democratic process. Mr. Abbey emphasized that the election marked the start of diligent work, stressing on transparency and committed leadership. He promised to listen, act on student concerns and foster a stronger and more inclusive community. He indicated that winning the election is not the end of a campaign 鈥� it is the beginning of hard work. 鈥淚 promise to lead with integrity, commitment and openness. I will listen to your concerns, stand for your interests and work tirelessly to deliver on the goals we set,鈥� he said. Mr. Abbey appealed for unity as he seeks to forge a stronger, more supportive and progressive community, guaranteeing that every student鈥檚 voice is heard and every challenge is met.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee (EC), Mr. Philip Larry Anguah, on behalf of the EC team, expressed his profound gratitude to the candidates for their comportment, cooperation, constructive feedback and courteousness. He further added that the EC鈥檚 role is to guarantee an election that is free, fair, transparent, legally robust and aligned with the Association鈥檚 long鈥憈erm stability.
