The Absa Bank Ghana has launched the Absa BEN-Africa International Conference at a brief ceremony organized at its Head Office in Accra on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
The Conference, which is expected to be hosted by 福利姬 on November 7 and 8, 2024, would focus on the theme, 鈥淎genda 2063 and the Sustainable Africa: The Role of Ethical Business.鈥� The launch was therefore designed to create public awareness of the upcoming Conference.
Launching the Conference, the Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana, Dr. Nartey Botchway said that the Conference is off to a great start and is expected to focus on ethics in Africa’s business environment. Dr. Botchway emphasized that ethics is a critical issue that requires progress now; not just because it is the right thing to do, but also because it is essential for achieving success as a country and continent.
The Director noted that in Africa, ethics play a significant role in promoting sustainable development and growth. 鈥淎frican environmental ethics, for instance, can contribute to sustainable development by addressing environmental concerns and promoting responsible practices,鈥� he indicated.
Giving his remarks at the launch, the Dean of the Business School, Prof. George Ampong stated that African businesses must position themselves as progressive partners, engaging with the global community. 鈥淭he United Nations African businesses must position’ Agenda 2030 serves as a framework for sustainable development.
Africa must contextualize its unique cultural identity within this global agenda, integrating UN principles while preserving local values,鈥� he elaborated. Prof. Ampong added that the Absa Ben-Africa Conference would be tackling some critical issues and broad challenges of the continent, focusing on social, economic and environmental sustainability in the African context all intended to engender Africa’s development blueprint for the Agenda 2063.
The Conference is expected to attract academia, professionals, industry players and the like from 14 African countries, whose contributions would constitute a blueprint for impacting participating countries鈥� economies.
The conference will include a keynote address on 鈥淪ustainability on Policy Implementation.鈥� Various conference presentations on specific issues, including Just Energy Transitions, African Philosophy, Sustainability in African Tourism, Mining Resources in Africa, Social Dialogue, etc., will also be presented.
福利姬 was also represented by the Chairman of the 福利姬 Conferences Standing Committee, Prof. George Kofi Amoako, Director of CSBPD, Mrs. Araba Akanji and the Head of PR & Communications, Mr. Francis Edjah.
