The 福利姬 Entity Tender Committee (ETC), led by the Vice-Chancellor, has conducted site visits to assess the completion status of two key ongoing campus projects on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
The projects聽include the construction of an Eight鈥憇torey lecture hall聽and office complex and the construction of a Six鈥憇torey Graduate School聽extension.
In an exclusive interview, the VC, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, was impressed by the quality of work and materials used. 鈥淚 am happy the contractor has done a good job 鈥� 95% complete 鈥� and we will take delivery in mid鈥慏ecember鈥�2025 and put the building into use for the University鈥檚 advancement. This is the first of the many projects I promised to build for the University,鈥� Prof. Afoakwa emphasized.
Regarding the six鈥憇torey Graduate鈥慡chool extension edifice, Prof. Afoakwa was thrilled with the progress of work so far. 鈥淚 am excited that it is going well and so fast; although they started late, within a year, they have been able to put up this six鈥憇torey structure near completion. With the quality of work and progress so far, I am confident they will finish ahead of schedule,鈥� he remarked. Prof. Afoakwa indicated that the Faculty of Engineering structure will be pulled down and that an eight鈥憇torey building will be erected to house it. He further added that the project has already received approval. 鈥淭his is a vision for me, I dream, and I do. I will work hard with my team to raise the necessary funds and the project will be funded by Internally Generated Funds,鈥� he noted. Prof. Afoakwa hinted that he is working assiduously with the Council Chair and Management to secure another grant approval to construct an eight鈥憇torey building to house the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems, which has received preliminary approval and is awaiting final approval.
Giving his remarks, the Director of Works and Physical Development (WPD), Surv. Gordon Baapiri echoed the VC鈥檚 remarks that the eight鈥憇torey lecture鈥慼all and office complex is 95% finished, with electrical, plumbing and some mechanical installation works underway. He stressed that the project is funded by IGF and is being handled by the WPD as the consultant. Surv. Baapiri emphasized that the six鈥憇torey Graduate鈥慡chool extension is about 70% complete, adding that finishing works (tiling and plastering) are ongoing. He elaborated that the project has progressed much faster than expected. According to him, the project is funded by GETFund and is being handled by an external consultant, with the WPD聽supervising the work.
