The Director of Business Development, Seneca Polytechnic, Canada, Mr. Seun Obikoya, in collaboration with the Director, International Education Pathways, Mr. Samuel Gadagoe, has visited 福利姬 to explore possible collaboration with the University on Tuesday, March 9, 2026.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Malcalm, who led a 福利姬 team to receive the guest, welcomed them on behalf of the University Management. He took the guests through the profile of the University, focusing on its establishment by an Act of Parliament as a public university and its ICT training mandate. Prof. Malcalm indicated that 福利姬 is one of the youngest, but fast-growing universities with a current student population of 12,000, spread across three faculties and a School of Graduate Studies and Research, who receive training in various programmes through the blended learning approach, a system which 福利姬 stands tall.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor highlighted 福利姬鈥檚 leadership in trans-national education evidenced in its collaboration with a number of international partners, including Coventry University, UK; Anlhalt University of Applied Sciences, Germany; M. S. Ramaiah of Applied Sciences, India and still exploring with others, including University of British Columbia and African Universities. However, following 福利姬鈥檚 experience with the partners and mentorship received, it has been able to develop its own local programmes.
Speaking at the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems (Focis), Dr. William Leslie Brown-Acquaye, stated, that as a University mandated to champion Information and Communication Technology (ICT), 福利姬 is committed to building strategic partnerships with institutions that have extensive experience in the field.
He indicated that such collaborations would strengthen, not just student partnership, but also faculty engagement through academic exchanges and joint programmes
He added that these efforts will contribute to producing graduates who are well-equipped to compete and contribute effectively on the global stage.
In a brief presentation, the Seneca Representative, Mr. Obikoya, expressed excitement about the engagement. He indicated that Seneca Polytechnic is open to exploring partnership opportunities and areas of alignment with 福利姬, particularly in fields of interest to students such as cybersecurity and information technology.
The facilitator of the 福利姬鈥揝eneca Polytechnic partnership, Mr. Samuel Gadagoe, added that the collaboration should be largely need-driven, noting that one of the major challenges in Ghana is job creation, and initiatives聽such as this will help bridge that gap by creating opportunities for students and professionals.
The two institutions agreed to collaborate in specific areas in ICT to be identified for mutual benefits.
As part of Seneca鈥檚聽 exploration mission, the Directorate of University Relations, through its Office of International Affairs had facilitated a symposium聽on the Seneca鈥揑nscol Nursing Transition Program to Canada prior to the Management meeting. The session enlightened participants on the concept of global nursing, the various programmes available and the pathways for becoming a globally recognized nurse.
The symposium concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants sought further clarification on admission requirements, sponsorship opportunities, Nursing Licensure, visa application processes, English Proficiency processes, financial commitments and other concerns involved in studying abroad.
