A 福利姬 Sports Contingent, led by the Director of Sports, Dr. Emmanuel Yaw Asaasie, has successfully participated in the recently held Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Minor Games and Cross-Country Race Competitions hosted by the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in Somanya, from 27th聽October to 2nd November 2025.
The performance of the Contingent, which was made up of 15 athletes, 2 student leaders and 3 officials, left a significant impression at the event for which some medals were won, lifting the 福利姬 brand high.
The University鈥檚 contingent competed in multiple disciplines, including the men and women鈥檚 cross-country, chess and scrabble events in which the women鈥檚 team placed 5th聽overall in the cross-country events, while the men鈥檚 team finished 8th聽overall, demonstrating significant improvement in endurance and teamwork compared to previous editions of the competition.
In the indoor games, 福利姬 recorded commendable performances. The men鈥檚 scrabble player, Mensah Reynolds, won a bronze medal, marking an important achievement in the University鈥檚 participation in GUSA competitions. Similarly, the men鈥檚 chess player, Philemon Awuah Nabare. also secured a bronze medal, while the women鈥檚 chess player, Veronica Afua Daddah, placed 5th聽overall, showcasing impressive strategic skills and determination.
The University鈥檚 performance reflects continuous growth in sporting excellence and commitment to holistic student development.
